Germany's New Citizenship Law: Key Changes and Implications

Germany has enacted significant changes to its citizenship laws, aiming to facilitate the naturalization process and promote integration. The new law, effective today, includes several key reforms: Automatic Citizenship for Children Born in Germany : Children born in Germany will now automatically acquire citizenship if at least one parent has been legally residing in the country for five years and holds an indefinite residence permit. This is a reduction from the previous requirement of eight years​   Facilitation for Guest Worker Generation : The naturalization process has been eased for long-term residents, particularly for the guest worker generation.
