UAE President Expresses Desire to Strengthen Ties with Russia at St. Petersburg International Economic Forum

During the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) conveyed his nation's commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with Russia. Notably, the UAE has refrained from joining Western sanctions against Moscow, which further underlines their willingness to foster stronger ties.

Addressing Russian President Vladimir Putin, Sheikh Mohammed expressed his pleasure in being present and emphasized the UAE's desire to build upon the existing relationship. The UAE's trust in President Putin to facilitate this growth was also reiterated during their meeting on the forum's sidelines in St. Petersburg.
As a Middle East economic powerhouse, the UAE has maintained a neutral stance concerning the Ukraine conflict. Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the UAE's ongoing support for all endeavors aimed at achieving a political solution through dialogue and diplomacy, with the ultimate goal of global peace and stability. Following the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed took to Twitter to reaffirm this commitment.
In a reciprocal gesture, President Putin expressed his gratitude to Sheikh Mohammed for his efforts in securing the release of prisoners of war in Ukraine, highlighting the positive impact of their cooperation on humanitarian matters.
This exchange at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum solidifies the UAE's intentions to strengthen its relationship with Russia, underscoring their dedication to fostering a constructive and mutually beneficial partnership.
