Aiwanger answers Söder's 25 questions

Bavaria's Prime Minister Söder sent his deputy 25 questions to clarify the anti-Semitism allegations against him. In the morning, Söder put pressure on him again. In the evening, Aiwanger provided the answers - now it's Söder's turn.In the affair of an anti-Semitic leaflet, Bavaria's Deputy Prime Minister Hubert Aiwanger answered questions from Prime Minister Markus Söder about the allegations in writing. His answers were delivered in the evening. The State Chancellery confirmed receipt. This brings the Aiwanger affair to a crucial point: it is now CSU leader Söder's turn and must decide whether or not to fire Aiwanger a month before the state elections on October 8th. It remained unclear when he would publicly announce this decision.

Söder wanted an answer "during the day"In the morning, Söder had increased the time pressure on Aiwanger to quickly answer Tuesday's list of questions. “It is important to me that the 25 questions are now answered comprehensively and credibly, and in a timely manner. And timely best means today, during the day,” said the Prime Minister on the sidelines of an appointment in Bechhofen, Central Franconia. However, he still did not give his deputy a formal deadline. Söder called his public apology from the previous day “overdue”.

Answer was planned for next weekAiwanger then told the dpa news agency: "If the demand is by this evening, then we will try to deliver by this evening." He added: "I don't want to be blamed here." Before a folk festival appearance in Lower Bavaria, he had just told journalists that the answer was actually only planned for next week.Aiwanger had already denied in writing on Saturday that he had written the anti-Semitic leaflet while he was at school, which the "Süddeutsche Zeitung" reported on in its weekend edition. At the same time, he admitted that “one or a few copies” had been found in his school bag. Shortly afterwards , Aiwanger's older brother admitted to having written the pamphlet .
