New numbers Up to 600 illegal migrants every day 58 percent more than 2022, even 145 percent more than 2021
They are alarming numbers. As BILD learned, more than 15,000 migrants entered Germany illegally in August. Most of these illegal refugees were discovered by federal police just beyond the borders with Poland, the Czech Republic and Switzerland. That's another 40 percent more than in July!
This means that more than 71,000 migrants entered Germany illegally up to and including August this year. That's almost 58 percent more than in the comparable period of 2022 (January to August) and a frightening increase of 145 percent compared to 2021! The number of arrests is currently 600 illegals every day!
Federal police stopped 23 illegal migrants in a smuggler's van near Pirna
Manuel Ostermann, deputy chairman of the Federal Police Union (DPolG) to BILD: “As expected, the numbers of unauthorized entry are going through the roof. The number of unreported cases is not even included.”
Ostermann speaks of “migration pressure on Germany” that is leading to “unbearable conditions”. The police officer clearly criticizes Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (53, SPD): “The Federal Interior Minister is simply letting this continue and is finally shirking her responsibility in times of crisis. For the citizens and the federal police officers. Due to this taboo and ignorance of real problems, the security risk in Germany is increasing due to the migration crisis.”
This is confirmed by federal police officers who perform their stressful duties at the German border. A chief inspector from the mobile control unit in Saxony told BILD: “The work is becoming more difficult, more strenuous and more frustrating every day, because the targeted smuggling is increasing every day. Stationary controls like those at the border with Austria would help us significantly, then this uncontrolled smuggling would not be possible at all.”
Federal police officers are also concerned about dangerous chases involving smugglers' vans. Often they are old, barely roadworthy vehicles in which migrants stand or sit unsecured in the loading area.
The chief inspector: “This is sometimes life-threatening for the illegal migrants. The smugglers then usually park the vans or small trucks somewhere near the border and flee. We are then faced with the people who have entered the country illegally and who we then take to a reception center. Actually, we can no longer do our job of border protection under these conditions, we are just a kind of reception committee.”
Heiko Teggatz, chairman of the Federal Police Union, told BILD: “It’s all just unbelievable! It is now five past twelve. We have been warning about this development for months. Nothing has happened so far. This behavior is irresponsible. The Interior Minister would be the only one who could at least curb illegal migration by introducing stationary border controls. But she’s obviously not even thinking about doing anything.”
