Nordhausen (Thuringia) – After the AfD hammer in Nordhausen, braces candidate Jörg Prophet (61) goes into the runoff election on September 24th with a huge lead. He could then govern as Germany's first mayor for the party classified as right-wing extremist by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution. 42.1 percent of the 36,831 eligible voters voted for the entrepreneur.
He was followed by incumbent Kai Buchmann (47, non-party) with 23.7 percent, although the trained banker recently made negative headlines because of ongoing disputes with the Nordhausen district administrator and disciplinary proceedings.
