Görlitzer Park: Berlin CDU demands these measures after the gang rape
A police station for Görlitzer Park, more security and fewer park entrances. After the brutal rape of a 27-year-old, the CDU is demanding clear consequences.
A couple is attacked by several men on June 21 in Görlitzer Park in Berlin-Kreuzberg . The 27-year-old woman is raped in front of her partner of the same age. He is also injured by the attackers. Both are robbed. The case also shakes up because the police initially did not want to make the case public for reasons of investigative tactics.
According to the police, there are four suspects aged between 14 and 19 in the case . One of them, a 22-year-old man, has already been arrested. He is in custody.
The first parties are demanding severe consequences for this incident. The Berlin CDU made suggestions on Wednesday evening to make Görlitzer Park safer. The Kreuzberg CDU politician Timur Hussein wants the park to be temporarily closed. In addition, security should be placed at the entrances, he wrote on Twitter. Husein proposes fewer entrances and demands that Görlitzer Park be completely fenced off.
In the meantime, the investigators have explained their previous reluctance to communicate. The police union (GdP) defends them.
